Name Day

Do you know what Name Day is? 

🔤Name Day is the celebration of the roots of a given first name. This is derived from Catholic and Orthodox religions as a commemoration of saints- although the celebration is not necessarily religious in nature anymore. In essence, if you were named after or shared a name of a saint, you would celebrate your Name Day on the specific date of the commemoration. 

 🔤I had actually never heard of this before! It’s not common in the U.S., but it is very popular in many European countries. I thought it would be interesting to share as it’s a traditional cultural celebration.
