Nonverbal Communication: "The Triumvirate"

Think about a recent in-person exchange you had with someone…

Now, take away speaking. What nonverbal communication was exchanged? Did you maintain eye contact? How close were you to the other person? Did you use touch?

The Triumvirate of Nonverbal Communication are touch, eye contact and proxemic/spatial behavior. 93% of the meaning of the verbal message is conveyed by the nonverbal behaviors associated with the message. The inclusion and/or exclusion of these communication behaviors can change the message.
